Get out and Vote

LA: Don’t ghost the Primary. 🗳️

If you’ve ever looked at a November ballot and wondered, "How are these my only two options?"—the answer is usually June.

In Los Angeles, primary turnout historically hovers around 30%. That means a tiny slice of the population is making the "big" decisions for everyone else. Because California uses a "Top Two" system, only the two highest vote-getters move on to November, regardless of their party. If you don't show up now, your preferred candidate might not even make it to the general election.

Why June 2nd is the "Real" Election:

  • The 50% Rule: If a candidate gets more than 50% of the vote in the primary, some races are decided outright. No November runoff. Game over.
  • One-and-Done Measures: Ballot measures regarding cannabis taxes, hotel taxes, and county healthcare funding are decided now. These don't get a second round in November.
  • The Whole Slate: We’re narrowing the field for Governor, Congress, Mayor, City Council, and the School Board.

📅 Mark Your Calendar:

  • May 4: Ballots begin mailing.
  • May 18: Last day to register to vote.
  • June 2: Election Day.

Don't let 30% of your neighbors decide your taxes and your leadership. Check your registration and see exactly what’s on your ballot here: #LAVotes #CaliforniaPrimary #DirectDemocracy #LAElection2026
