The sport is usually played on a course with 9 or 18 holes, each consisting of a teeing area and target (basket). Players complete a hole by throwing a disc from a tee pad or tee area toward a basket, throwing again from where the previous throw came to rest, until the disc comes to rest in the designated basket. Disc golf targets are composed of a metal basket supported by a center pole, with chains hanging from an upper band. They are designed to catch the incoming discs, which then fall into the basket.

Disc golf is a flying disc sport in which players throw a disc at a target, similar to traditional golfThe objective is to complete the course in the fewest throws, with the course consisting of a series of holes with targets usually metal baskets with chains. It combines elements of both traditional golf and frisbee, offering a fun and active outdoor experience.

This video explains the basics of disc golf, including how to throw and the different types of discs used:

How it works:
  • Targets:
Instead of holes in the ground, disc golf uses above-ground targets, typically metal baskets with chains.

  • Discs:
Players use specially designed discs, often called "golf discs," which have different flight characteristics and are chosen based on the throw and course layout.

  • Tee-off:
Each hole begins with a tee throw, played from a designated tee area.

  • Lie:
After each throw, the spot where the disc comes to rest is called the lie, and the next throw is made from behind that spot.

  • Course:
A typical disc golf course has 9 or 18 holes, each with a tee, fairway, and a target.

Scoring:
Like traditional golf, the goal is to complete the course with the fewest throws, with par for each hole indicating the expected number of throws.
