For 35 years, Angelenos have come together to care for the River through the Great LA River CleanUp. What began as a grassroots effort has grown into the largest urban river cleanup in the country, powered by thousands of volunteers each year.
At the Sepulveda Basin CleanUp, you can both volunteer and help save the monarch butterfly! The Santa Monica Mountains Fund (SAMO Fund) will be tabling at the Sepulveda Basin clean up on October 18th, giving away free native milkweed plants to volunteers. Milkweed is the only plant monarch caterpillars eat, making it essential for their survival—join the movement to protect this iconic species. (Plants will be limited and given on a first-come-first-serve basis.)
