The Encino Neighborhood Council Opposes SB 79!

On Wednesday, May 28, the Encino Neighborhood Council unanimously voted to support the LA City Council resolution opposing Senate Bill 79.

SB 79 will destroy residential neighborhoods by allowing 7-story apartment buildings in residential areas next door to single-family homes.

Not only will neighborhoods be destroyed, but apartment building developers will compete with families to purchase every eligible home, tear it down and replace it with an apartment building. This will drive up the cost of buying a home and reduce the inventory of single-family homes. Everyone loses except for the developers.

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Big money from developers is behind SB 79 and if you don't like it, the best way to stop it is by voicing your objection. If you don't think developers should be able to build 7-story apartment buildings on residential streets, let your representatives know. Your voice matters!

To help you do that, you can download the SB 79 Action Guide. This guide contains sample letters and email addresses of where to send them. Letting your reprsentatives know where you stand only takes a few minutes but can make a big difference.

You can learn more about SB 79 by watching this presentation made to the Encino Property Owners Association.

The ENC is so happy to be a new sponsor of The San Fernando Valley Girls Softball League. We have recently granted a Neighborhood Purpose Grant to purchase a scoreboard for the league. The board was very pleased to receive this thank you letter from the league....

Dear ENC Board,

On behalf of Gelila, myself, and the entire ESO Girls Softball community, I want to extend our deepest gratitude to the entire Encino Neighborhood Council for approving the NPG grant that will fund our new scoreboard.

This scoreboard represents more than just keeping score—it symbolizes the dedication, teamwork, and determination of the incredible young athletes in our league. Your support ensures that our girls will experience the thrill of seeing their hard work celebrated and their achievements proudly displayed for all to see.

We are so fortunate to have partners like the ENC, who share our commitment to providing opportunities and resources for young athletes. This grant will have a lasting impact, not just on the players, but also on the families and the community who come together to cheer them on.

Thank you once again for your generous support and for believing in the mission of ESO Girls Softball. We look forward to sharing updates and inviting you to see the scoreboard in action as soon as it's in!

With heartfelt appreciation,

Peter Dulay - President, ESO Girls Softball

Gelila Hurwitz - Board Member, ESO Girls Softball
